Halloween movies you can actually look forward to
It’s officially spooky season, and with Halloween coming soon, the best way to get in the mood is to hole up in your living room with some snacks and get terrified. These are some movies to look forward to this October.
- “Lamb”
Just from the trailer alone, “Lamb” looks terrifying, and yet I have no idea what to expect. Judging from the idea of the human lamb child with a couple who lives on what looks to be an isolated farm, the kinds of horrifying things that could happen in this movie is endless. It might just be the scariest movie of the year or just a decent one. We won’t know until its U.S release on Oct. 8.
Synopsis: A childless couple in rural Iceland make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature, in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson. (A24)
2. “Halloween Kills”
Micheal Myers is back in possibly his last movie, “Halloween Kills,” and I’m very excited. I mean, what’s Halloween without Myers there to party? The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie and James Jude Courtney as the infamous killer Myers. Hopefully, “Halloween Kills” doesn’t disappoint because, in the words of Laurie herself, “Evil dies tonight.” Or at least, evil will die on Oct. 15.
3. “Night Teeth”
If classic horror and suspense movies aren’t really your thing, but vampires are, then “Night Teeth” could be for you. The movie stars Debby Ryan, Megan Fox and Jorge Lendeborg Jr., to name a few. It’s a Netflix original, and it’s set to release on Oct. 20.
Synopsis: A young driver picks up two mysterious women for a night of party hopping. But when his passengers reveal their true nature, he must fight to stay alive. (Netflix)
4. “Last Night in Soho”
“Last Night in Soho” is probably the only movie on that list I will actually watch without being persuaded. I don’t know how to describe this movie, but it has the sparkle of the 1960s mixed with our world today, ghosts and murder. What else could you need for a good horror movie? “Last Night in Soho” is a psychological horror film from the mind of Edgar Wright starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Jessie Mei Li, to name a few of the amazing actors in the movie. The specular of a film release Oct. 29, just in time for a good scare on Halloween night.
Synopsis: In acclaimed director Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller, Eloise, an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie. But the glamour is not all it appears to be, and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker. (Focus Features)
