Young Thug, Jeffery or “Sex,” as he likes to call himself, is a renowned artist known especially for his music, but more importantly, his sense of style and branding techniques.
Young Thug has been one of the most controversial artists in the music industry for almost a decade now. His sense of style while being a cisgender straight man has caught the wrong kind of attention from those who seem to not understand him. Nevertheless, he never allowed the voices of those who despise him to alter his path to success.
In 2016, he released an Album titled “JEFFERY” featuring Travis Scott, The Migos, Duke and Wyclef Jean. Though these artists carried the album into its sales, what was more important was the overall design concept of the album. It was not the normal approach his fans were used to seeing when it came to his image, so of course, many of his fans had negative comments to issue.
Fortunately for Young Thug, this was a major marketing move that increased his awareness and pushed him to go even harder.
This next eccentric work of art is known as one of Young Thug’s greatest and most creative covers during its time period. There are 803 shrunken versions of himself juxtaposed to create the illusion of his full face. This body of work was influenced by M.C. Esher, a world-famous realist painter.
Finally, we have his latest project “Punk.” Though the marketing technique was extremely subpar, the album design shocked his fans who all had to endure a whole year of the most basic album covers. One person even tweeted this:
Even if you aren’t a fan of Young Thug’s music, almost every artist can find some form of strong value or appreciation for his artistic direction when it comes to nailing down the proper visuals for his musical concepts.
