In a world of modern and traditional art, street artists continue to push the boundaries of how we both view and appreciate art as a whole. It’s well known that Dada art has a heavy influence on many of the media we continue to be inspired by, but one artist, in particular, has not only increased the modern art wave but has generated a massive following in the process.
Brian Donnelly, the creator and artist behind the brand KAWS is a street artist turned genius. He utilizes and remixes well-known characters and re-generates them into new and interesting ideas. Some examples include Spongebob, Snoopy from Charlie Brown, and even Elmo from Sesame Street. These figures, more importantly, aren’t just remixed digitally, they are re-produced as 3D figures which can be available for purchase as collectibles.
However, KAWS isn’t just making waves by himself, he and his team were able to deliver concept pieces to the High Museum of Art in their special exhibit section. There you will be able to find KAWS from the inside out through screenprints, 3D works, and sketches.
I won’t spoil the surprise you’ll get to enjoy once you get to the museum, so the photo I share will be both reserved and limited. However, if you’d like to see the KAWS exhibit, you can purchase tickets through the High Museum of Art’s website.
The KAWS exhibition gift shop offers memorable items for your visit as well.
