My home is my favorite place to be. I’m a homebody, so becoming one with my couch is a regular activity for me. It just became more permanent than I wanted in 2020. At the height of the pandemic, people slowly began to realize that COVID-19 was not going to be over in a couple of months. Eating, sleeping, socializing and working, now done in one space that seemed to get smaller as the days went on.

It’s summertime here at The Connector and that means it’s time for binge watching all those shows everyone has been raving about. This summer, it’s Prime Video’s "The Summer I Turned Pretty." To some, this is just another young adult book adaptation hitting a streaming platform. But for me, this was ten years in the making to see my favorite characters come to life on the screen.

No matter the social platform, a quick scroll through the millions of posts marked with the hashtag “cottagecore” will result in a very cohesive brand of content. The hashtag has accrued nearly 10 billion views on TikTok, where you’ll find short, cute videos of influencers decked out in elf ears, prancing among wildflowers in vaguely Victorian- or Regency-era flowing dresses, usually cupping baby ducklings or rolling out some homemade bread dough.
