Arum Rae | The Drunken Unicorn | $10 | 9 p. m. | 18 and up

Arum Rae, formerly known as White Dress, defies definition. She gravitates between folk, indie, blues, jazz, soul and even country. Whatever genre she performs is infused with a distinctive spoken word element. Her songwriting is eccentric, inspired and never lacking soul. She’s worked with other artists such as The Black Keys, Peter Bjorn and The Civil Wars. It’s tough to describe what Arum Rae sounds like because every song is very different, but  Check out her website and download her free EP “Waving / Wild” and decide for yourself.

Ashtree | The Masquerade | Purgatory | $7 | 8 p. m. | All ages

Ashtree is an indie, pop-rock band from Denver but last year they had an extended stay in Atlanta when they recorded their latest album “Rescue The Light.” This trip will be the last show of a long tour and celebrate a quasi-homecoming for Ashtree. They sound like Seabird or The Fray, except younger and simpler. Purgatory will provide the perfect environment for a tour-ending, intimate show. Check out Ashtree’s latest album for free.
