We all know about makeup subscription packages that promise a personalized set of makeup based off our preferences. The validity of these subscriptions is unknown to me, but a new beauty service has caught my eye that may finally lure me in. It’s essentially the same concept as Ipsy, Birchbox or Boxycharm, but with perfume and cologne. I am not an avid makeup wearer or by any means a makeup connoisseur, but scents are the key to my heart. The samples you get as a gift for making a promotional purchase can only last so long. I’ve researched the best scent subscriptions to fit everyone’s tastes.
Scentbird is a perfume and cologne subscription service based out of New York. The general subscription package gives you access to choose a monthly fragrance from hundreds of brands. Every month, you receive a 30-day supply of your selected fragrance for $14.95. If you already have a scent that you’ve been dying to try, this is a great option. If you’re just exploring, Scentbird offers a quiz to recommend fragrances based off your preferences. You can also find your dream scent match by searching a brand, mood, occasion or personality. The great thing about this subscription is that you can constantly update your selections if you receive something you don’t like or if you get something you love. Scentbird offers several subscription packages. If you don’t want to subscribe, you can buy independently from their site as well.
This subscription offers less flexibility as Scentbird but has a broader range of products. Scentbox has two subscription plans: standard and premium. The standard subscription is $14.95 per month with free shipping. This allows you to choose one designer fragrance from the 575 that are offered. The subscription size is a 30-day supply or 125 sprays. The premium subscription is $18.95 per month with free shipping and gets you the same thing as the standard, but gives you access to an extra 275 premium designer fragrances.
Perfume Surprise is a subscription service targeted towards females that only offers perfume. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, Perfume Surprise might be the best option for you. Rather than selecting your own scent, Perfume Surprise sends you five designer fragrances that are selected based off of their theme of the month. The fragrances are noticeably smaller — only 2.5 milliliters — but you get to experiment with more scents and receive a jewelry gift with each set. You have the option of a monthly subscription plan for $24.99, a six-month plan for $125 (you get one month free) or a three-month plan for $67.50. All plans include free shipping. The Perfume Surprise website also features a blog with beauty tips and perfume etiquette.
