SCAD GamingFest

SCADFILM presents a highlight of the spring quarter with SCAD GamingFest. The three-day gathering from April 4-6 will be packed with panel discussions featuring industry professionals, candid conversations with alumni about their success, film screenings and discussions with those behind-the-scenes. SCADstyle

As a part of the annual SCADstyle event, SCADshow will be hosting two events on Tuesday, April 9: a talk with designer-advocate Liz Rose Chmela, founder of Latent Design Katherine Darnstadt and Julia Zeltser, creative director of Hyperakt, and an opportunity to converse with Mary Katrantzou, whose garments are on display at SCAD FASH.

On Tuesday, April 9, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film is hosting the opening reception for their latest exhibition, Kaleidoscopic Katrantzou from 6-8 p.m. An event in conjunction with SCADstyle, the exhibition celebrates 10 years of the famed fashion designer, and consists of at least one garment from every collection since 2009. Grab your friends and check out this unique exhibition!

Legacy Films at SCADshow

This quarter, SCADshow is paying homage to the past. Classic films like “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Searchers” and “Ben-Hur” are showing throughout the quarter and screenings are free for SCAD students. SCADshow offers concessions such as popcorn and drinks. Check out tickets and prices here.

Business of Design – An Oxymoron?

On Wednesday, April 17, SCADshow welcomes Stephen Swicegood to explore how business and design initially came together and how the two components can come mix beautifully. Discussion points include “The Practice Paradox: Design + Business” and “Management of the Absurd: Making it work.”

Inspiring Radical Creativity Empowering Young, Diverse Voices to Tell Their Own Stories

On Wednesday, April 24, Gabby Rivera, an up and coming queer Latinx, will be talking about her journey as a millennial woman incorporating the unheard and unrepresented diversity in her own writing. With Rivera’s smart and funny style, one can imagine our reality with a tad more color. This talk, held at SCADshow, is free and open to the public.

Artist’s Book Symposium & Competition

On Thursday, May 2, the ACA Library will host its 12th Annual Artist’s Book Symposium, a competition where students from all majors are welcome to submit an artist book they have worked on. Judged by Jerushia Graham, this competition also allows viewers to vote on their favorite book which will then be displayed at the Trois Gallery. Additional information can be found here.
