‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,’ while an adage rarely followed, it is a sentiment that most have heard. Even with 54% of Americans skipping out on breakfast at least once a week, there is a keen importance placed alongside the idea of breakfast.

Situated on the ever-busy Peachtree Street, rests a heavenly establishment that caters to the early birds — Egg Harbor Café. Open from 6:30 a.m. — 2 p.m., this cafe invites all who intend to nourish themselves without any reservations. Egg Harbor Café is a family-owned chain of restaurants that are available through the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Georgia.

When one walks into this establishment, they are greeted by a queue of people waiting for their tables. Having an array of seating options such as booths, tables and outdoor seating facilities at times of good bountiful weather.

The walls of this restaurant are covered with paintings of roosters to enrich and add to the theme of “Egg” the cafe dictates. With a menu riddled with witty misnomers that add to the quirky lightheartedness that their ambiance provides, items like Eggceptional Skillets, Omelettes, Benedicts, Toasts, Waffles, Scramblers and Egg-Ceteras, Egg Harbor fosters a really positive atmosphere.

Egg Harbor welcomes everybody to come and try their hearty breakfast. Having a selection of gluten-free pancakes and croissants from Sweet Ali’s Gluten Free Bakery, a local bakery opens the door to the people who live gluten-free. As per vegan options, they cater to subbing out the eggs for other alternatives such as fresh-cut fruits, home-style potatoes, grits, and other such breakfast delicacies.

Their recommended beverages consist of their patented (not really) and delicious strawberry-orange juice which is unfortunately seasonal, freshly brewed cup of Intelligentsia coffee, orange juice, hot chocolate, chocolate milk and other such drinks that remind you of home.

This chain of restaurants was started back in 1985, and now has about 19 restaurants in the United States: 10 around Chicago, its state of origin, 5 around Georgia and the remainder in the state of Wisconsin. “Adorable small-town, country-cafe vibes don’t come easy, but Egg Harbor has them in neighborly spades,” said Thrillist, a travel magazine that featured this restaurant amongst other regional breakfast chains.
