With fashion weeks awhirl, new clothing and accessory trends are being delivered daily. As busy as the life of a SCAD student gets, it might be hard to keep up with the times. So, here’s what you all have been hoping for: A rundown of what trending fashion item you are based on your major.

Fashion or Fashion Marketing

What embodies SCAD’s resident fashionistas better than kitten heels? These silky pumps date back to the 1950s but have been contemporarily popularized by iconic designers like Miuccia Prada and Jonathan Anderson. Classic, clean, and crisp, kitten heels are the perfect items to represent FASH and FASM majors (on the outside).

Painting

Eclectic and flowing, PNTG majors share many commonalities with the maxi skirt. The recent resurgence of this item is giving a flashback to the ‘70s — a time of artistic expression and technological innovation — and we’re here for it. The maxi skirt can be styled in a thousand different ways: business casual, Y2K, coquette, you name it. This liberation of style is just what PNTG majors’ dreams are made of.

Writing

Gucci, Fendi, Prada? More like Goodwill, FashionNova, Plato’s Closet. Loafers are a staple in luxury fashion houses and thrift stores alike, making them an exemplary item for WRIT majors — the kings and queens of duality. Comfortable enough to sit in coffee shops and study lounges for hours on end or brave the big city streets to live a tale they can later tell. Loafers were made for writers.

Animation

The perfect blend of endless personalization and surround sound makes headphones the ideal trending item for ANIM majors. Nine times out of 10, you’ll see SCAD’s finest animators walking the courtyard wearing this popular accessory.

Sequential Art

Expressive, bold, and a little sassy, miniskirts are the SEQA representatives. Telling a story in a matter of inches proves challenging to ordinary people, but sequential artists take that challenge and run with it. Creating worlds in minuscule dimensions makes the mini skirt these artists’ quintessential trend.

Interior Design

Sophisticated and versatile, the oversized blazer can do it all — just like INDS majors. Look suave in your studios with this staple business casual wardrobe piece. Oversized blazers give an enigmatic boost of confidence when presenting projects or crushing your capstones.

Film and Television

For the FILM majors: cowboy boots. This fashion accessory is making a comeback both on and off the screen. Featured in recent award-winning films like “Barbie,” cowboy boots are the epitome of the FILM essence — all tied up in classic Americana fashion.

User Experience

Tote bags are the most adaptable and multifaceted of these trending items, which is why they are ample for UX majors. Factoring in longevity, convenience, and user-friendliness, totes go hand-in-hand with UX/UI. With distinctive logos and graphics for every individual, the tote bag provides unique flair to all who wear.
