Jobs are a very essential part of our daily lives, although securing a job isn’t that simple. As the beeConnect job fair approaches, here’s a cheat sheet on how to ace your job interviews.

Dress professionally

First impressions are really important, so feeling confident is key. The easiest way to feel confident is to wear something comfortable, yet professional. This may vary with the sort of job you’re applying for but appearances matter. Daranie Mor, third-year advertising student said, “Dress for the job you want, not the one you have,” and that might seem like a good start for the dreamer within.

Ask questions

Ask meaningful questions pertaining to the job after the interview. It tells the interviewer that you’re interested in the company and the actual role. Mohammed El-Kurd, a fourth-year writing student advised, “Always ask questions, and always do some research on the company.” Such actions show the employers that you’re not afraid of moving ahead from your position and are looking for growth.

Set goals and work towards them

Some goals are more achievable than others. This is why it is always better to plan, write them down and work towards them. For instance, when you plan that your goal is to be a part of an organization, you’d be able to work towards achieving that goal better. To achieve long-term goals you have to plan things in advance but also set out short-term goals that would keep you busy in the meantime.

Talent vs. experience

Ruchi Tada, a graduate luxury and fashion management student said, “Today, things aren’t the same as before. Companies do not mind compromising experiences for talent. You just have to be good enough.”

Apart from these methods, the key factors to succeed in a job interview would be to be confident, composed and ready to answer any questions that come at you. Good luck!
