When did you start photography and what does it mean to you?

I started photography during my freshman year of high school thanks to my school’s media program. I would go out and photograph for school events; I was really supposed to be recording for the events, but I would always do both. I really like photography because having opportunities to take a picture of a moment and having those memories forever is the best feeling in the world. I love looking back at old photographs.

What is your photography process? Describe the type of photography you like.

I like to capture moments. I don’t like posed photos because it’s not the true feeling; it’s fake. I love rawness in photos because it’s like you can feel every emotion in the photo. When I take pictures, I like to get them when no one is paying attention, that’s when you get the truest emotions.

Who or what inspires you?

The thing that inspires me the most would probably be the environments I’m in. Once I figure out what’s my setting and I figure out what I’m dealing with, I usually have a good idea of what I’m shooting.

How does SCAD help your creative process?

Thanks to SCAD, I’ve actually gotten more confident in my work. I’m surrounded by people who inspire me to challenge myself and work harder.

Do you have any advice for other artists?

My advice for other artists would be, connect, connect, connect. That’s one of the most important things for us as artists to do in order for us to be successful. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help, I promise there is someone out there who will help you. The worst they are going to say is no. The last thing would probably be; never stop creating.

What are your future goals?

When I graduate, the dream is to go on tour with an artist and become their videographer/photographer, but the reality is to edit commercials or movie trailers. I really wanna work for Viceland or Food Network.
