Written and photographed by Mandie Rivera.
I am black.
Skin smooth as chocolate syrup.
With a shine that mimics the sun.
And next to me?
A king.
My brother.
With skin like mine.
Cocoa butter.
Shea butter.
Chocolate cream.
We are divine.
Black skin is beautiful. Period. So with this poem, I wanted to describe the skin of the black students I have randomly chosen. The point of the photographs was to take two SCAD students and use them as an example for other black students. The purpose of the whole entire piece together was to, one, to visually see black beauty in the average college student and, two, let others know that they should love their beautiful, chocolate skin.
