Everyone knows that a leap year comes around in four years — I only realized that 2020 was a leap year in the third week of January — but it’s not that big of a deal. Do we really think about its significance? Probably not.

The only consistent part of this inconsistency would be the Summer Olympics, celebrated every four years, thus the leap year. I can’t seem to figure out how I never put associated the two events. Come to think about it, so do the Presidential elections.

It occurs to me that there are people who are born on Feb. 29 who “technically” only celebrate their birthdays every four years. According to Health Care Dive, it causes a surprising amount of trouble in regards to official documents such as expiration dates on driver’s licenses and life insurances since Feb. 29, 2015 does not actually exist.

Not to make fun of it, but I think we should take this rare occurrence as a source of humor. One should probably make the best of it and do something out of the ordinary, or something just memorable. It could be the best of times or the worst of times, you just have to make your decision.
