Since the COVID-19 pandemic rattled the world, everyone has been forced to find new ways of living. Businesses needed safer ways to deliver products and offer services, families were condemned to their individual homes and schools had to offer virtual courses. Fortunately, throughout this social shift, art has kept our spirits up by providing various TV shows to binge, new music, and at-home photoshoot challenges, such as the #VogueChallenge.

On the same note, this year I decided that I would utilize the pandemic to my advantage by creating the same art that inspired me to go to SCAD, fashion-centered photography. Over the past year, I used my personal camera to elevate my portfolio in order to be noticed by some well-known brands around the Atlanta area. It started off well with majority of my shots being portraits of close friends and family, but then bloomed into something greater as a started to use Adobe Photoshop and a stool I bought from Goodwill. This began the “Levitation series.”

However the pandemic wasn’t the only factor that caused me to reflect on my journey through photography. I came across some older self-portraits I took four years ago and decided to compare and contrast my growth from four years ago to conclude the year 2020. Here are some of the photos from 2016:

During 2016 I was a sophomore at Stephenson Highschool and I just began my journey into the modeling industry. I later decided to solely focus on Instagram and digital campaigns, but had a difficult time finding my own niche until 2020. This was the year I finally found out what my signature was for the industry and here are the results of my portraits in 2020:
