I had various phone chains and maybe you did too, but now it just feels out of place!

If you’re reading this, my guess is that you are attracted to fashion and that your Instagram ads and discover feed are filled with quirky accessories each week.

At this point we might have seen it all: the acrylic, plastic or ceramic rings style that was brought back by Spanish accessory brand La Manso, or the gold chain necklaces that hold many types of motifs — including my favorite, glass strawberry pendants. (I may have ordered myself one of those necklaces last week, I’m still waiting on my package to arrive.)

But bringing back the phone chain is something I wasn’t expecting at all. It feels like those younger than us are discovering their older sibling’s closet, just like we’re doing now with our parents! Hello, it’s classified as a Y2K accessory!

When I first saw the many Instagram and TikTok posts from users showing the phone chain off, my first impression was “This is something new.” For a about 10 seconds, I was hooked.

At second 11, I thought to myself: a 22 years old with a phone chain will look a bit ridiculous. What do I do with the chain when I’m going to put my phone in my small bag? And with the chain bumping against my phone, at some point my phone screen will definitely crack.

There were many mixed feelings with this one, until I found out users were making phone chains in many lengths, even to the point were you can wear your phone like a cross body purse.

There is just no justification for this trend, but the fun part is that you can DIY it. That is the most special part for the people in this era, taking something and making it specially yours.

What you need is simple, some clear bracelet string and random beads that can go from fruits and happy faces to pearls and millefiori. Would this prospect convince you to change your mind that phone chains are cool again?
