Color Palette Instagram Challenge!

Gather and create color palettes while analyzing various color schemes with professor Courtney Ryan. Students can tag their images @scadfoundations.atlanta for viewers to vote on their favorite color palettes! Students should have Illustrator, Procreate or Photoshop installed prior to the workshop.

En Plein Air – Drawing Piedmont Park in Color

Join the adventure to Piedmont Park to learn expressive drawing and watercolor painting techniques capturing the essence of outdoor spaces from short-term direct observation. We will select views and potential subjects in the landscape, construct effective compositions and develop a quick impressionistic rendering in color media.

Laser Cutter Demonstration

Students will learn the difference between raster engraving and vector cutting and how to set Rhino or Illustrator files to achieve their desired results. Multiple examples of laser processed materials will be shown. Materials, submission requirements, and processing times will be covered.

Analyze what makes film director Guillermo Del Toro’s visual style so unique in regards to character design and costuming. Participants will have the opportunity to design their own villain or hero character! Students should bring sketchbook and drawing materials or digital tablet.

Navigating Color

Learn to think of the color wheel as a map with cardinal directions! Reorienting the way you think about colors so that you are never lost when mixing or matching colors. 1600 Woodshop Certification Demonstration
Friday, Feb. 13, 1-2 p.m.
Students will be shown how to safely operate the 1600 Woodshop equipment. The miter saw, band saw, panel saw, sanders, and some hand tools will be covered. After attending the demonstration and completing the online written test, students will be certified to use the 1600 Woodshop.
