Drawing is a vital means of seeing the world around us. The experience of drawing a human figure is perhaps the most significant way of expressing the cultural context that we live in today. This last-step combines the knowledge from a previous series of workshops to achieve outstanding results and is a good opportunity for student in all majors, especially fine arts. Supplies needed by participants: drawing charcoal paper (24X36 Strathmore or BFK Rives/Arches), measuring stick, graphite pencils (or conte crayons/willow charcoals/charcoal pencils), kneaded rubber erasers, and white erasers. Stained Glass and Color Theory: Making Your Own Stained Glass Window
Friday, May 21, 1-3 p.m.
Students will apply color theory concepts of implied transparency and color interactions to create an abstract, geometric design from stained glass. The design will be created from pieces of multi-colored cut glass that can be joined together using the technique of copper foiling and soldering. These windows will shine bright in your window for years to come. Materials to be provided to participants: Pre-cut glass pieces, cooper foil, flux, solder, solder gun, wire hanger, hanging suction cup, apron, paper covered workspace. Click here to register.

Artist Book Techniques: Explore the Altered Book
Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m. – noon
Professor Lear-Perkins will introduce students to artist books and work by Brian Dettmer. We will explore a variety of different techniques to modify and rethink an existing book. There will be an extensive demonstration on creating words and text through folding pages of an existing book. Supplies needed by participants: a found, old, or used book of your choice, PVA glue, and X-Acto knife. Click here to register.
