These 3D models were created by fourth-year animation student, Regina Vera.

These poses are part of a larger challenge Vera is doing called the “31 days, 31 poses challenge,” started by master CG animator, Courtney Oberbeck. Back in May, Oberbeck had decided to push herself by posing 3D models in different and dynamic poses for 31 days. Oberbeck later extended this idea to the art community.

Vera found this challenge at a perfect time. After a busy spring quarter, Vera had found herself in a very unmotivated summer break mood, where she was finding it difficult to finish projects on her own. Vera has participated in challenges before but never fully completed them due to either losing interest or having other life events get in the way. However, this challenge was such a fun and learning experience for her, she has been extremely consistent with this one and has almost fully completed it.

Vera takes her career as a 3D animator very seriously, and noticed she struggled with exaggeration. This challenge has been amazing for improving her skills in that field, along with gaining more knowledge in lighting and staging. Vera also used this challenge to experiment with different softwares, such as Blender. Although she mostly uses the software Maya to animate, Vera has always been a fan of Blender as an alternative. She was able to create a hybrid technique through posing her rigs in Maya and then exporting them into Blender for lighting and rendering.

Vera is a truly amazing and admirable animator whose incredible skill continues to grow every day. If you want to see her complete this challenge and see more of her other work, her instagram is @r3ginaarts.
