The Connector

This extremely appealing character was created by fourth-year sculpture student, Kahil Nazrin.

Like many other story-tellers at SCAD, Nazrin is an avid D&D player. The character featured here is their original character in the game, who goes by the name of Frank Stitcher.

Stitcher is a necromancer straight from the pits of Hell. He runs his necromancy like a business, he has his own shop that is a dark reference to the beloved, earthen, toy store: Build-A-Bear. In Stitcher’s shop, people come to visit and pay money to create “best friends,” through using a Frankenstein-like approach to bringing back dead bodies for the purposes of the living.

Nazrin actually created this character in order to push themselves more in character designing. For a while, Nazrin was role-playing in the game as a rogue goblin, named R’kash. While Nazrin enjoyed this character, they realized a lot of the ides for R’Kash came from a video game that they were fond of playing at the time. Frank Stitcher was then created to be more of a reflection of Nazrin’s own skill set in designing and creating an original character from their own mind.

A clever example of Nazrin’s thoughtfulness in character designing can be easily seen in Frank Stitcher’s name. His first name, Frank, carries double meaning to his nature. The name references the iconinc literary scientist, Victor Frankenstein, whose methods were an inspiration for the Builld-A-Friend workshop, but also alludes to the honest nature of the character, who prefers to be “frank.”

Nazrin takes his character designs to amazing levels through their illustrations and sculptures. If you would love to see more of his original characters brought to extraordinary life, their instagram is @diaxion.
