TikTok has given us many great things, including recipes, laughs, conspiracy theories and educational topics skipped over in school. But just when I think the TikTok trends are dying down, a new one comes up with a vengeance.
Everyone, I would like you to Noodle the Pug. Noodle is owned by Jonathan. Noodle himself is a 13-year-old pug who has trouble standing up sometimes. Hence the creation of “Bones Day” or “No Bones Day” in which if it’s a “Bones Day,” it means Noodle has stood up (he has bones!) and it’s a day to be productive. But on the chance it’s a “No Bones Day” (he has no bones!), we are to prioritize ourselves with self-care.
It’s the cutest thing ever; the anticipation of an upload to see if Noodle will stand in his fluffy bed has a huge following of 4.1 million people and with over 5 million views on some of his Tik Toks. But beyond seeing a senior dog determine what kind of day we will have, Noodle the Pug can teach us balance.
A couple of weeks ago, Noodle and his fans had 3 “Bones Days” in a row. Or, in other words, 3 productive days in a row where we got things done. Whether it is your regular job or a business plan that needs writing, Noodle the Pug wants us to be productive. But on the fourth day, Noodle the Pug decided it was a “No Bones Day,” or a day of self-care.
The balance of relaxation and productivity can be tricky for some. Before 2020, having a desk so close to a bedroom or dining room meant it was used as a place to put decorative plants. But when COVID-19 came, those desks changed your home to work, causing a clash between home and work life — triggering stress and other mental health disorders like depression.
In other words, it’s become harder to remember to have healthy work habits even with the hundreds of articles to help us destress. But Noodle and Jonathan have the best tips, including a heated blanket, a walk or just sleeping in a bit. Plus, advice from Jonathan and their adorable (to die for) senior pug is the best way to receive tips and tricks.
So in a world where work and stress take the wheel, Noodle the Pug will be there to remind us that we need a “No Bones Day” to be kind to ourselves and one another.
