One of AmazonPrime newest shows, “Wheel of Time,” is set to premiere on Nov. 19, and it looks to dazzle audiences.

The show is based on a book series by authors Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The first novel was published in 1990 and came to an end in 2013 with 14 volumes, a prequel and two companion books.

With so much material, we must ask: will the show ruin the books or enhance them? The new show will have to impress the book’s fanbase, which is substantial. The “Wheel of Time” series is one of the most popular fantasy series next to “Lord of Rings,” and if “Wheel of Time” fans are anything like “Lord of the Rings” fans, the expectations are very high.

A bit about the upcoming show: We follow Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of what looks to be a very powerful group of magical women, and her quest that will either save or destroy humanity.

It sounds very dramatic, but it’s worth watching the trailer if you like franchises like “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings,” or if you want to see Rosamund Pike beat people up.

Companies like Netflix, Hulu and AmazonPrime have gotten most of their shows from books lately. And so far, it’s been OK. As a book lover, it’s always a bit nerve-wracking to see great books get turned into a show, but that’s all we see.

“Shadow and Bone,” “The Witcher,” “Good Omens,” “The Mysterious Benedict Society,” “A Discovery of Witches” and almost any Disney show at this point are some of the good adaptations. “Wheel of Time” looks promising and seems to be perfect for cuddling up and watching because it’s too cold to do anything outside.
