Immerse yourself in the studio space of SCAD’s Flash Fridays
It’s no secret that every photographer’s dream is to have a set space where they can create for hours on end and learn how to become more creative every step of the way. Of course, this dream comes with challenges, especially being that a lot of us as college students simply may not have the time, money or even the space to create in such a way. Not only that, but setting up studio spaces or renting them can drain you emotionally when you have to take charge of innovative ideas and new directions every time.
Happily, there is now a space for you to be able to learn in full-scope about photography, lighting and styling on the fifth floor in the C building. The name of this new concept is “Flash Friday.” Flash Friday is a weekly event where all students are welcome to come to the studio bays on floor 5c to photograph and model. Students that come may learn about various lighting concepts and be able to use the Phase One camera, Hasselblad and other DSLRs.
What’s important to know is that this can help your portfolio and professional career. Headshots and full-body portraits will all be available for you to download and use for your portfolio if you’re a model or for social media.

The first concept was strictly focused on generating interesting headshots using appropriate gels and lighting. There were only two lights on set, but they delivered impactful quality. Both lights were focused on delivering the right amount of exposure with the respective gels.
If you’d like to a part of Flash Friday, then you may visit the 5th floor in the C building every Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m..
