With the warm weather finally here, Piedmont Park festivals and events have swung into full gear. This weekend, artists and art connoisseurs from all over came together for the 87th Atlanta Dogwood Festival that took the city by storm with artist booths, live performances, delicious food vendors, and kids’ favorite carnival rides.

The festival is one of the largest and most diverse juried art shows in the country, reeling in some of the top artists over 12 mediums, including photography, glass blowing, mixed media and leather making. At the conclusion of the weekend, a winner for each category was announced. Throughout the weekend, so many different mediums of art were able to be viewed and appreciated by eager onlookers. Each artist’s process was so different and unique to them. To read more about each artist and their processes from the Dogwood Festival, visit their website here.

The Connector got the chance to talk to one of the Dogwood Festival artists, Paul Willsea, half of Willseasobrien Glass. Willsea and his wife, Carol O’Brien, have worked together since 1983 in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York. Willsea was incredibly knowledgeable of not only his own craft but the arrangement of his pieces when going out into new homes. Check out their website to view more of their intricate glasswork.
