The Connector recognizes exemplary film work done by SCAD students. This week’s featured film is “Kalos,” directed by film and television students McKinley Benson and Enzo Hui.
The Connector: Tell us about your work.
Benson: Our inspiration for “Kalos” doesn’t come from one specific thing. We knew we wanted to tell a heartwarming story and explore the theme of overcoming tragedy. Originally, we had a very long and convoluted story that we wanted to make more succinct. We chose to go with the “short and sweet” delivery.
The reception for “Kalos” has been positive so far. This film was both of our first times working with child actors. We were so fortunate to have such talented kids to work with. The entire cast and crew really put their hearts into this film — we hope it shows!
