TikTok, whether you hate it, love it or don’t understand it, has made its impact with its never-ending list of amateur and professional chefs. Here are a few trends worth your time, and some to avoid.

The good

1. Salmon rice: I haven’t tried it, but I’m told that this one is great if you like salmon. Getting past the weird way it looks, it serves as a delicious snack, and I have yet to hear a bad review of this.

2. Almost any Mac and Cheese recipe: I’ve learned many different ways to make this simple dish, from boiling the pasta in cheese water to getting creative with Kraft, plus all the different ways you can make it fancy. You can’t go wrong.

The bad

Feta and tomato pasta: This trend has blown up to the point when people had to hunt online for the cheese, as it was impossible to find in grocery stores. But for all the hype, the recipe’s variations all produce underwhelming results that certainly aren’t worth the trouble of online-ordered dairy.

The basic

Gigi Hadid’s vodka pasta: There are many versions of this recipe, from adding meat to making it vegan. It’s only alright.

If you don’t want to spend too much time scrolling through endless recipes, here are three people worth following for inspiration for your next dinner.

Chef Lovely (@cheflovely)

Chef Lovely is a celebrity chef and host who appears on The Oprah Winfrey Network, so you know her recipes are good. Other than food, Chef Lovely always serves up new music to add to your playlist and good vibes that make cooking seem like a breeze for the everyday person.

Men with the pot (@menwiththepot)

Located in Ireland, Menwiththepot is my favorite food-focused TikTok account. Unlike others, you don’t get the recipes, fluffy voice-overs or overly gimmicky food. Instead, the two men cook the most mouth-watering food in the middle of the woods. The angles, knife chopping skills and sounds of cooking and nature don’t get any better. The account has almost 9 million followers, and the creators behind Menwiththepot have barely said a word. The food speaks for itself. It’s a must-follow.

Kelz Wright (@kelz)

The easiest way to find new TikTok food trends is by watching Kelz Wright’s account. Over five million people have watched Kelz Wright’s video of him reacting to food. Wright’s bio reads, “Just a hungry Taurus that loves his Gray hoodie,” and he says everything we think when we see another food trend. It’s a funny and easy way to see what recipes are worth trying and which to avoid.
