“Christmas Cupid,” the new ABC Family Original Movie scheduled to premiere Sunday, Dec. 12, 8 p.m. (EST), features footage shot on location at SCAD Atlanta. The film, shot in and around Midtown Atlanta, provided an opportunity for SCAD Atlanta students to experience, first-hand, the inner workings of film production for a major television network.

Produced under the working title “X-mas Carol,” this modern version of the classic “A Christmas Carol” is a light-hearted comedy set in Los Angeles. The story line focuses on a success driven young executive, Sloane Spencer, who neglects her loved ones as she pushes her way to the top of the corporate world. Not until she is “divinely inspired” by the most unlikely character does she see the true consequences of her actions and realize she must change her ways before it’s too late.

By combining a design-based sensibility with a hybridization of cultural styles and references from Baroque to hip-hop Carter’s installations offer unique observations about form and function. “It Is What It Is, But It Isn’t” draws our attention to innovative thinking and new assimilations of everyday objects and popular imagery in contemporary art.
