Based on Bapsi Sidhwa’s novel, “Cracking India,” the film centers on the division of India and Pakistan in 1947 and chronicles the destruction of innocence in the name of nationalism and religion. The violence of the time co-exists within a love story touched by betrayals of friendship. The film stars Aamir Khan, Nandita Das, Rahul Khanna and Maia Sethna.
