It’s so much better than Christmas, but not quite Halloween. It’s akin to St. Patrick’s day and resembles New Years Eve; another holiday associated with late nights and alcohol. It’s a day to remember that there’s only four more weeks until the end of the quarter at SCAD Atlanta and (for our of age students) to enjoy some tequila infused fun at a local watering hole.

_MG_9839Holy Taco has the best sangria in Atlanta. Grab a table on the terrace (barring bad weather) and order a pitcher of sangria for $15. A pitcher serves about six, or three very thirsty senoritas. But Holy Taco isn’t just a great place for a cold drink. Try the fried squid tortas with some of Bobby Britt’s pan fried padron peppers or the slow cooked beef brisket with vidalia onion relish and carrots escabeche. Like Holy Taco on Facebook for some super secret specials on Cinco de Mayo and pick up one their new masked taco wrestler coozies at the bar.

La Fonda’s doesn’t have anything special planned for Cinco de Mayo because they’re special everyday. For a more intimate environment and an authentic traditional Spanish entree, stop in for the paella Sunday night. Check out a great mixture of Mexican, Cuban and Spanish culture at La Fonda’s.

Sign up for royalty rewards at Tijuana Garage on Cinco de Mayo and save five percent on your bill, which doesn’t sound like much, but after buying a few rounds that five percent turns into a few free tequila shooters. And after becoming a member, save more cash with daily member specials like magic bus margaritas for $5 or $16 mimosa pitchers.

_MG_9862Don’t drink on an empty stomach though. Give the Georgia tofu Tijuana taco a go or maybe the porky goes Hawaiian taco with slow-cooked pulled pork, homemade barbeque sauce and crushed pineapple.
