The “Squash and Stretch” exhibit by SCAD B.F.A. painting student Lauren Clay, will be gone on Wednesday, April 20. It is located in the Trois Gallery in the ACA library on the 4th floor of the main campus building. The gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

For the SCAD Trois Gallery, Clay says, “The wallpaper in the exhibit is made by scanning and enlarging small sections of marbleized paper. The image of the marbleized paper is then printed on self-adhesive vinyl and applied to the gallery walls. The sculptures that hang on the walls are made from paper pulp, plaster, and papie-mache.”

According to Clay, “The sculptures in the exhibit reference the work of two artists: Frank Stella and David Smith in order to speak about the sometimes oppressive conceptual and historical baggage of art history.”

This exhibit was curated by the executive director of SCAD FASH and Atlanta exhibitions, Alexandra Sachs.

The exhibition is free to all SCAD students.
