This coming Saturday, Sept. 29, there will be an open ACP event taking place at Binders Art Supplies and Frames in Ponce City Market. From noon to 4 p.m., the store is giving the chance for anyone to hang up two photos and may receive an award for their phenomenal photography. While there are some requirements one must follow before participating, this event is not exclusive to professional photographers. Anyone can come in and potentially win an award. They have not set a theme or style of photography, making it even easier to participate in this ACP event.

Before you participate, make sure your prints are the right size. Binders Art Supplies ask that only two unmated, unframed photos of  8.5″ x 11” or smaller can be pinned up during this event. Only two photos per person are allowed. The store has also provided forms to fill out before participating. Each form given on the site is particular to who is participating. There is one for individuals, one for senior faculty, and one for schools. If a class wishes to participate together, they may fill out this form. For SCAD students who want to attend on their own, fill out the form for individuals. To find these forms, click here.

The award ceremony occurs on Oct. 27 at 12 p.m. Awards given out for the photos presented come in various categories: Best Use of Color, Viewer’s Choice, Critic’s Choice, Best Use of Black and White, Youth under 12 (1st, 2nd and 3rd place), Teen 13-18 (1st, 2nd and 3rd place), Adult (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) and Senior (1st, 2nd and 3rd place). None of these awards have a cash prize, the only exception being high school classes who enter together. The winner of the Best High School Prize will receive $500 for equipment in their photo class.
