SCADShow

On Monday, Feb. 25, join SCAD alumna Kanika Arora forher lecture, “Ma — the Space In Between: Raising Consciousness Through Communication and Design,” at SCADShow at 7 p.m. She seeks to discuss a “global industry disruption by spreading transformative, contemporary applications of Ma,” according to SCADShow’s website. “Ma,” the Japanese word for “gap” or “space,” describes a long-standing idea of space-time. This concept was born from ancient Japanese ideologies relating to the symbolism and importance of spaces and if they can truly be “empty.”

Arora is an architect and interior designer at tvsdesign, an Atlanta-based architecture firm. She believes the need for shelter and emotional well-being are inexorably linked. Her design aesthetic focuses on simplicity and valuing simple pleasures by getting rid of excess and distraction. This leads to a greater sense of well-being and emotional stability.

This event is free to attend. If you plan to drive to SCADShow, expect to pay a $9 parking fee. You can also take a SCAD bus to the ACA Residence Hall and walk to SCADShow from there.
