It’s the month of October and many artists are participating in the daily drawing challenge commonly known as Inktober. While there is the official Instagram (Instagram: @inktober) prompt list, many create their own prompts or create daily drawings in a wide variety of media.
The term Inktober was first introduced by illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, as he explained as “a challenge to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits.” Under the Instagram hashtag “#inktober,” there are more than 14.2 million posts with thousands of artists participating each year.
Many students here at SCAD are also taking part in the Inktober challenge, with many following along with Parker’s official prompt as well as their own. Featured here are a few of the submissions from this first week.
