Pride is a time for celebrating love, identity and each other. Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ population (Georgia ranks 17th nationwide for its percentage of LGBTQ people) places itself prominently as part of the larger community when it comes to showing acceptance for the youth and sharing the message of love.

Atlanta’s annual pride festival, held on Oct. 13 opened with an overcast sky and was filled with faces that were covered with glitter, smiles and hope. Piedmont Park hosted Atlanta’s 48th pride with food trucks, performers and a diverse audience that came out to celebrate their true selves. There were stalls that sold gay merchandise and a few stalls that gave away corporate gifts such as stickers, fake tattoos, koozies and totes.
