Visit the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah
Explore the SCAD Museum of Art during a free field trip to the university’s premier contemporary art museum in Savannah on Friday, Oct. 18. The bus departs at 7:30 a.m. and will return by 8:30 p.m. Enjoy guided tours by SCAD curators and take in the museum’s remarkable exhibitions, including “Frederick Douglass: Embers of Freedom.” Students should bring cash or their SCAD Card to enjoy lunch at The Hive. See the future of photography at “Aura and Invention” reception
Meet young artists who are pushing the limits and potential of photography at the reception for “Aura and Invention: Alternative Processes in Photography” on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the Trois Gallery. The works in this exhibition exemplify inventiveness in process. Offering alternative perspectives, the artists challenge existing modes of reproduction and suggest new possibilities in our image-saturated society and culture of instant production and dissemination.

Stand up to aggression with R.A.D.S. self-defense training
Receive training in aggression awareness and prevention, as well as basic hands-on defense at this women-only course led by nationally certified instructors on Friday, Oct. 18. session I will be offered from noon to 2 p.m., and session II will be offered from 3-5 p.m. Sessions are successive; you must attend Session I before moving to Session II.
