I think we all have those moments when we stand in front of our closet and think to ourselves, “I have nothing to wear,” or we end up wearing the same outfit and feel bored. As someone who preaches sustainability, I completely disagree with the idea that we need to go out and buy multiple pieces to refresh our wardrobes. Instead, here are four items that you can use at any time to elevate any look.

A white shirt

I know that a white shirt is basic, but it is a piece you can really have fun with. I have a whole section of my closet that is just white shirts because of how often I reach for them. Wearing a white shirt with any outfit allows for a more elegant look, and it will also mean that you always look put together. The way I use white shirts to elevate my look is by buying unique cuts of white shirts. The shirt I am wearing with the gold pants is actually a muscle tank with really interesting shoulder detail. If there is one closet item to invest in and have fun with, it’s a white T-shirt.

Denim jacket

Denim jackets are perfect outerwear for the transitional seasons. They are light and can actually keep you warm while adding to your overall look. Even with a simple denim jacket, you can add something interesting to your look, but I want to highlight the distinctive qualities of denim jackets. These can be relatively inexpensive and can still be pretty versatile. Denim jackets with embroidered patches have been very popular, and I absolutely love mine because it has floral embroidery all over it. My newest purchase is this white tie-dyed denim jacket. It is still very neutral, but it makes my outfit instantly unique.

Statement blazer

Now, most of us have blazers in our closet, but to make your formal look a little more special, get a statement blazer. I am a person who has velvet, printed and long blazers, but don’t fret if you do not want to be that bold. This blazer is just a neutral orange-brown color that is longer than the usual blazer. The length allows me to wear shorter outfits underneath and still look appropriate in different settings. If making bold statements scares you, buy a simple piece in a different cut or silhouette.

Power dress

Finally, we have the power dress. I have always heard that every girl should have a little black dress, but I think that is too boring. We all have that dress in our closet that brings out our alter-ego and allows our confidence to soar. If you do not have a dress like this, get out there and get a dress that makes you feel POWERFUL. I am not afraid to wear this dress everywhere, and you shouldn’t be either. The best way to elevate any outfit is to feel incredible and confident in it.

All these options are inexpensive and can last you a very long time. Don’t be afraid to have fun and wear pieces that you feel amazing in. I hope these suggestions help you in refreshing your wardrobe and style.
