Billie Eilish released her newest single “NDA” this week. This is her fifth single from her upcoming album “Happier Than Ever.”

The other singles Ellish has released haven’t been the best, in my opinion. If anything, they were just OK and nothing special. This saddens me to say especially considering Ellish is one of my favorite female singers at the moment.

“NDA” is the best one yet and will most likely be my favorite from the entire album. In “NDA,” Ellish sings about privacy, security and, most importantly, stalkers. It also hints at a former, long-gone romance. This is probably why I enjoy the song so much.

Earlier this year, as Eilish’s fame grew, she dealt with strangers and more people looking at her in general. The lyrics give fans a look into what the artist has been dealing with and feeling. Every word holds weight and details a new experience each time.

For example, Ellish directly talks about the stalker she and her family experienced this year and the consequence with this verse:

“Got a stalker walkin’ up and down the street

Says he’s Satan and he’d like to meet

I bought a secret house when I was seventeen.”

According to Rolling Stone, Ellish not only self-directed the music video (this isn’t surprising; Elllish has directed all of her videos since “When The Party’s Over,”) but it was also shot in one take.

A one-take music video is super impressive, considering you would want everything to go right the first time. Not only that, but 25 stunt drivers zoom past her in a seemingly reckless manner — but, of course, these are trained professionals we’re talking about — all as Ellish stands in the middle.

When I watched the video, I thought it had special effects. I thought Ellish couldn’t really be dodging cars, but I was wrong. According to a press release, Ellish did not use a stunt double, and all the vehicles you see are real. Everything is real. And that is why I love Ellish; she does her own stunts and self directs. A true inspiration. Go watch the music video if you haven’t.

Eilish’s album “Happier Than Ever” releases on July 30.
