In exploring and examining the characteristics about her body that brought her embarrassment and self-doubt, Williams was able to reach a level of personal comfort with herself. This is Danniel Williams (no relation). I asked her to write something for this piece, but she quickly declined to have an entire column in her own words. She was willing to be photographed and share a few thoughts, however. Her insecurities are her facial scars from childhood, acne which she covers with make up daily and the various contrasts of her skin tone.

“My hands are so much lighter than my face and I can’t stand that,” Williams said. “I’m not sure how I got this scar on my face, but I know it had something to do with a rose bush.”
