Fashion. It can only be repeated so many times before it gets dull. Brands are getting bored of recycling old trends with minor tweaks. In the words “Devil Wears Prada” character Miranda Priestly, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” In this season’s new batch of upcoming fashion and beauty collections we have more designers than ever reaching outside of the box and working with makeup brands and members of the exciting industry of entertainment.

This season we have current “it girl” Iggy Azalea launching a line of footwear with Steve Madden. There isn’t much information on it at the moment, except that it is set to debut in February 2015.

In the meantime, the beauty industry has graced us with two collections for MAC Cosmetics and one for beauty brand NARS. MAC has just released a collection inspired by “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” for the film’s 40th anniversary. This collection came just in time for Halloween with its bright and bold colors and is full of everything you need to do the time warp again, from eyeshadow and blush to bronzer, lipstick and eyeliner. You’ll look better than a sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania.

For those that can wait another month, you will be rewarded with the grandeur of a Prabal Gurung x MAC mashup that will rock your world. This collection, according to Gurung, who graced SCAD’s hall for spring quarter’s SCAD Style event , was made to scream beauty and luxury with its solid gold plating embossed with the designer’s name. The packaging was inspired by 1920s makeup cases which were very grand in their own right. The collection featured eyeliner, lipstick, lipglass, bronzing powder and cream color base, all the things you need to feel like you are prepping for a party at Gatsby’s.

Lastly, we have beauty brand NARS, which announced during Fashion Week that a collaborative line would be on the rise with designer Christopher Kane. The collection includes products for eyes, lips and cheeks, all of which were used on models during Kane’s SS2015 show when it debuted in London this year. Unfortunately, our chances of looking like runway models for the designer are sparse as of now until the collection, slated for May 2015, makes its appearance.

Overall, 2014 seems to be the year of collaboration. With fashion becoming more of an eclectic mix of vintage, high street and prestige brands, collaboration may be the one thing that revitalizes the industry altogether.
