Spring break has come to an end but you may not be feeling completely rejuvenated. One week isn’t long to relax and sleep away the stress from finals week. Before you can give school your all, it’s vital to make sure you’re at 100 percent.

Soul food Sundays are not just for sitting around a table and enjoying comfort food with your family. Any day can be a soul food day if you make time to do all the things that make your soul happy and fulfilled. Whether it’s doing a face mask, decluttering your space or doing yoga, find something that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the world.

Unplug and unwind to ensure that you’re able to give your all to all of your commitments this upcoming quarter. First, get some sleep. This sounds like a no-brainer, right? According to at study completed by Stanford University’s Department for the Diagnosis and Treatment for Sleep Disorders, the minimum amount of sleep required for college-aged individuals is eight hours per night. Instead of binge-watching your favorite Netflix series, get some shut-eye.

Next, try pampering yourself and practice self-care by making an all-natural face mask. Homemade face masks are easy and inexpensive. Just grab a couple of everyday ingredients from your pantry such as turmeric, yogurt and raw honey. They all have great benefits for your skin and they can double as tasty snacks.

In addition to face masks and home spa remedies, self-care also includes stimulating your mind. Use today to pick up a new book and get your mind stimulated for the upcoming week. Escape to a new world in that novel you’ve been wanting to read or dive into an intellectually stimulating essay collection.

Finally, eat your favorite food. Nothing makes you feel better than consuming your all-time favorite meal. Whip up a family recipe that reminds you of home. Curl up on the couch with your ultimate comfort food and turn on your favorite show to de-stress.

Whether it’s your last quarter at SCAD, or you have a long road ahead of you before you earn your degree it is important to make sure you’re not overexerting yourself. Keep in mind that while school is a priority your well-being should always come first.
