Today, Feb 1, SCAD Atlanta’s Stop Motion Club is screening “The Adventures of Mark Twain” (1985) at the Digital Media Center (DMC). “The Adventures of Mark Twain” is a claymation fantasy film that celebrates Twain as both a great man and writer — along with his fictional characters Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher and Huckleberry Finn. The event takes place 1-3 p.m. in room 108.

The Stop Motion Club is also holding a claymation workshop on Feb. 15. This event invites SCAD students to learn about the art of claymation, its entertainment value and how to build their own claymation pieces.

Catherine Nelson, fourth-year animation student and the Stop Motion Club secretary, said, “I’m really excited to see the club continuing on the traditions of offering people insight into one of the earliest forms of animation.” She continued, “I’ve been with the club since fall 2013. First as a member, then in 2016 as club liaison and now secretary. It has been wonderful watching it grow and change and bloom.”
