Well … the Super Bowl LIII happened. This year’s game wasn’t the most eventful, but the one thing viewers can always anticipate are the diverse array of commercials present alongside the program. Fortunately, this batch of entertaining and creative advertisements did not disappoint. Here are five of the most notable commercials from the big night worth checking out.

“Avengers: Endgame” TV Spot

Marvel Studios

No collection of Super Bowl ads are complete without a variety of trailers for anticipated films and TV shows. While there were plenty that standout — Jordan Peele in “Us,” “The Twilight Zone” reboot and “Toy Story 4” to name a few — dominating the evening, the one teaser that has us most excited is unsurprisingly for Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame.” After the jaw-dropping conclusion to last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and the heavy tone of the first teaser for “Endgame,” fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are dying to know any further details on what’s next for our beloved characters. While this teaser didn’t give much more away, it is nice to see the remaining heroes finally banding together and suiting up. This is enough to give fans a sense of hope and we can’t wait to see how things wrap up for these beloved icons.

“The Elevator” Hyundai

Hyundai USA

Hyundai left quite an impression with this compact and witty ad. The commercial features a snarky Jason Bateman as he transports a couple going car shopping further down on an elevator, past levels featuring jury duty, root canals and airplane middle seats. Then takes them to the very top after realizing they are using Hyundai Shopper Assurance. The idea of the ad is brilliant, comical and to the point, with Bateman’s snappy performance tying it all together to deliver a highly rewatchable ad.

“Change Up the Usual” Stella Artois

Stella Artois

Well, this a match-up we never knew we needed. Both Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw (“Sex and the City”) and Jeff Bridges’ The Dude (“The Big Lebowski”) come together to switch up their usual drinking habits for a Stella Artois. The performances of these iconic characters, as well as the audio and visual callbacks, feel as fresh as ever and comedic reactions between the background actors are well-timed and effective.

“RoboChild” TurboTax

TurboTax

The execution of this ad may come off as bizarre at first glance, but it sells the idea rather effectively as odd as it may seem. Selling the idea that the employees working at TurboTax are not cold-hearted machines, this ad sees an inventor and his friends having to break the news to his newly built “RoboChild” that he will never have the emotional complexity to be a TurboTax Live CPA. The design of the titular character has a creepy uncanny look that will send shivers up your spine, to say the least, and it doesn’t get much better once you see him laugh. However, the disturbing look contrasts perfectly with the selling point, making this ad successful in its intentions.

“Game of Thrones X Bud Light”

HBO

In what may have been the most surprising ad of the evening, these two iconic brands clash in a devastating duel to remember. Following a joust between the Bud Light Knight and a mysterious stranger that results in a loss for the former, the stranger reveals himself to be The Mountain from “Game of Thrones.” The monstrous figure makes quick work of the Bud Light Knight and then allows a ferocious dragon to ignite the kingdom in a ball of flame. This ambitious crossover of brands was arguably the highlight of the night and has gotten fans extremely excited for the final season of the groundbreaking HBO series.
