Tuc Fashion Week

True Urban Culture Fashion Week 2019 will span three days across three different locations this Memorial Day weekend with the theme, “Visionaries of Tomorrow.”

The event starts on Friday, May 24th at the Believe Music Hall, followed by the W Atlanta Buckhead on Saturday, May 25th. It will conclude on Sunday, May 26th at Audi of South Atlanta.

Hands Across Atlanta, a non-profit organization, is partnering with True Urban Culture to raise awareness of the homeless situation in Atlanta.

It will feature high profile designers from New York City, Atlanta and some of our very own SCAD fashion students and alumni. SCAD designers on the TUC roster include Sehee Park, Yang Zi, Anya Haber, Sophia Kunju Herrera, Katelyn Zhang and Abbie Ross.

Fashion students are buzzing with excitement and waiting for their fellow classmates’ designs to hit the runway. Abbie Ross, 2018 SCAD Alumni whose work is presented below, said, “The Phoenix ’96 collection speaks on how we are each the hero of our own lives. Whenever we feel beaten down, hopeless or like giving up, we must rise up and fight back by fueling our passion and fire from within. We must stand for what we believe in, but without losing ourselves or our dignity in the process.”

Sophia Isabel, a fourth-year fashion student presenting on Friday, May 24th said, “Being able to have my pieces shown in TUC Fashion Week is an incredible opportunity. I’m hoping to be able to network with some people during the event and be able to talk about my collection and what is the inspiration behind the pieces.”
