I went out with some friends to Fall Fest 2019, a music, food and art festival at Candler Park. The two-day festival began with some cool breeze and the first major temperature drop for the month. It consisted of more than 200 independent artists and artisans who showcased and sold their works. There were also many musicians, food carts and trucks, along with fun activities for children and families.

Hundreds of locals and visitors roamed through the park to check out the various art displays and to join the long lines for Atlanta’s famous street food.

Handmade jewelry, canvas paintings, custom stickers and ceramic pottery pieces were just some of the many types of fine art and crafts featured in the festival.

Many of the artists expressed how much they loved the festival and shared their stories and processes with me, including leather artist Remon Abel and ceramic artist Anna Marie Baldwin.

Additionally, the very talented local artist Vando Davis said, “I really love the festival. I’ve only been painting since March 2017, it just hit me like some bricks. All the artists and people here at the festival are very receptive. It’s a great atmosphere.”

Overall, this event was very beneficial for the community of artists in Atlanta. It was also a great atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy their weekend, breaking in the fall season.

As an art student, seeing the abundance of uniquely interesting works from professionals in the industry, in this large walk-through exhibition, was truly inspiring. I can’t wait to see what next year’s festival has to offer!
