Monday, Sept. 8, SCAD Atlanta hosted its first Bee Well fair. Christie Simons, the director of counseling and student support services said, “Bee Well is a SCAD initiative that allows students to pursue and maintain good mental, social and physical fitness. We’re also educating students to choose better coping methods.”

In collaboration with different departments of the SCAD Atlanta community, the Bee Well fair came up with a range of activities to allow students to take a few minutes out of their busy schedule.

The ACA Library held the table with a pop-up library with books and films related to mental health, food, self-help and other themes. Sarah Cruz, catalog librarian, said, “Not all the advice you seek can be found online, come explore our libraries and see for yourself.”

Jessica Clary, student media adviser said, “The purpose of the gratitude table was to take a minute to think about someone who helped you or did something for you, and take a minute to appreciate them.” She also added, “Writing a thank-you note is one nice way to do that. Plus, the person who gets the note feels appreciated. It’s about keeping that wave going.”

Allie Boggess, ACA Residence Director hosted the table “Wheel of feelings” suggesting that students should take mindful efforts to process and embrace their emotions.

Nouf Alnowaiser, a luxury and fashion management student said, “I really wanted something like this to take a break from my busy schedule.”

Community+, an all-inclusive SCAD student club organized an activity that allowed students to put up Post-its about good thoughts, words of support and things they’re afraid of.
