The Connector

This colorful illustration was drawn by third year animation student, Chandana Ramesh.

Ramesh is someone who is able to find the beauty of the moment. This is clear in this illustration, where the character featured is completing a simple task of watering plants, yet has a wonderful look of contentment on her face. This also adds a story element to the piece through clearly portraying serenity in the character’s expression and actions. Ramesh herself has a great love of plants herself, and hopes to create a physical space where she is able to grow one. However, until then, this illustration does a lovely job of filling that place.

Many friends of Ramesh would describe her as a “real life color wheel.” This comes as no surprise with this illustration, where the viewer sees colors from all sides of the color wheel come together in a delightful harmony. Ramesh credits fauvism, a style that originated in the early 20th century, as her influence behind her color technique. Fauvist works are often characterized by the usage of vivid and non-naturalistic uses of color in their work, which allows for the more flexible color palettes that Ramesh expertly employs in all of her work.

Ramesh’s expertise on color and her amazing skill is visible in every illustration she creates. If you want to see more of her stunning work, her Instagram is @danieza.
