The surge of media exploration and tourism in Atlanta is typically linked to football games, basketball games and concerts. However, listening parties are now on everyone’s mind, especially due to Kanye West’s latest project DONDA.

Def Jam

On July 22, West held a listening party, where he was spotted on the center-field wearing an all red outfit with unreleased Yeezy and Gap apparel. During this event, he played a section of songs from his project featuring artists such as Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, Playboi Carti, Pop Smoke and many more. The project was of course unfinished and Kanye states that he’d be living in the Benz stadium until he finished his project.

After the event ended, many fans anticipated that he’d release the album that same night, but in the morning, many people were disappointed.

Soon after, West’s team announced that there will be a second listening party on Aug. 5, and that West even hired a creative director for his second listening party. This time, the creative director’s team invited many college students, including myself to be field performers for the event.

We were dressed in all black from head to toe with masks that resembled stockings, like the mask he wore during the first listening event.

Now, the guides for the performers instructed that we stay away from recording during rehearsal. However, on the day of the event, I was able to capture some footage of what it was like being apart of this historical moment.
