Recently, I realized that my music had grown stale and I had become bored. The vibes were off. All the songs I usually love sounded terrible. So as I was exploring the black hole we call social media, I found a song that redeemed my hope and love for music.

GTFO Franky

It sounds desperate, and it was probably just the rain that had been falling for eight hours that made me hate my playlist. But “Do-Over” by GTFO Franky had a refreshing yet familiar sound to it.

GTFO Franky is a Sweden-based singer/songwriter (he sings in English for those curious) with two singles, “See Through” and “Do-Over.” Both are equally great singles. I prefer “Do-Over” because once I learned the words to “See Through,” I got emotional.

Here’s what Franky said about the song “See Through.”

“This one is for everyone who is or has been stuck with bad habits, and who stands still in their life because of it. To everyone who tries but nothing seems good enough. To everyone who builds a front to be able to deny the truth instead of grasping it. I’ve been there. Honestly, I AM there, more or less all the time. That’s when I feel alone. I hope someone out there will hear this song and relate, and not feel as lonely anymore. I hope you’ll like it! All love.”

I do like the songs, Franky. They both have an indie-pop vibe — think girl in red, Cherry Glazerr or even early Kahlid. GTFO Franky is meant to be listened to on a gloomy day and a day with a bright blue sky. The vibes from the two songs are immaculate.

Since Franky is relatively new, but here are some things I could find about the artist. First, he’s based in Sweden. Second, the music video for “See Through” is exceptionally better than the one for “Do-Over.” That’s all for now, but I do hope there’s more to come.
