Big Wave Bay (also known as Tai Long Wan) is a bay in the Southern District of Hong Kong. Located on the eastern coast of Hong Kong Island, Big Wave Bay offers a variety of street markets with a combination of mountain and ocean scenery backdrops.

Big Wave Bay Collection: Little Island

This little island was found during journey on a bus that was moving way too fast through the rough mountainous terrain of Big Wave Bay.

Big Wave Bay Collection: Cabbage n’ Currency

Although not as popular as Bok Choy, this cabbage is sold along with several other veggies at this street market for nearly twice the price. This street market is the last fresh food market before reaching the beach and BBQ area. Products range from seafood and wild game to farm vegies and poultry. Tourist and locals must carefully select vendors that have the best quality for the cheapest price.

Big Wave Bay Collection: ?

This was found on a median, balanced in the middle of the concrete barrier between the street market and the MTR public transportation station. Not sure if they were food or other offerings made for public, many tourist eyed the baskets suspiciously. Locals walked by and removed some pieces of the charcoal-like material and replaced others. They seemed to sniff and even chew the little bundles.

Big Wave Bay Collection: Beach BBQ

The bottom of Big Wave Bay is not only known for its awesome waves and incredible scenery but also the native style beach BBQ pit. Here, tourist mingle and mix alongside locals while enjoying the serene view. Each BBQ is no more than 3×4 ft mental stand with a tray for holding coals and wood, and meh wire rack for grilling. Most of the pits are surround by a few plastic chairs. The entire area is covered with a plastic tarp that provides just the right amount of shade. Frozen drink and ‘meat on a stick’ vendors are found here and there along the pit to give visitors a variety of options.
