SCAD Indian Students’ Association Atlanta (SISAA) will be hosting Diwali 2017 at the DMC Thursday, Oct. 19. The event is from 8-10 p.m. on floor S, and is free and open to those with a valid SCAD ID or guest pass.

Dikssha Dinesh, a fourth-year graphic design student and the president of SISAA said she feels that Diwali is the perfect opportunity for students to experience a new culture and celebrate the end of midterms. “International Student Services Office (ISSO) sponsors the event with an authentic Indian meal, dance and music. All students, faculty and their personal guests are welcome,” said Dinesh.

Students will also have the opportunity to receive  henna tattoos and learn about the diversity of Indian culture from SCAD Atlanta Indian students

“Diwali is an important festival for people to get together and celebrate the victory of good over evil,” said Bhavishya Sharadhi, a fourth-year television producing student. “It is the time to give, gain and share.”

Lynn Marouf, a third-year graphic design student, said she is looking forward to eating Indian food and meeting people at the Diwali event. “I am keen to learn more about this culture,” added Marouf.
