Right about now, students have gotten used to their routines — finding the best routes to get to class on time, all the places to relax and get some work done and so on. Starting school can be a daunting experience for most people, so here are a few methods to make the best of it.

Make friends

Interacting with peers in your classes is always a good way to branch out and form your own friend circle. You’ll have people to confirm details on your submissions and assignments and you could work together after class. Having a common goal to work towards makes it easier for people to bond. Another easy way to make friends would be to join one of the numerous clubs that are available both at school and around the city.

Eating healthy

Sometimes the stakes are against you and that amounts to a lot of stress which frustrates people beyond what they’re used to. In those cases, people often neglect their health to meet their deadlines. We recommend taking the time to feed yourself, even if it’s with some cereal and milk or a slice of pizza. If your body isn’t fed, your mind isn’t fed. Here are a few tips to eat healthy while being tight with money.

Sleep

Adequate sleep is essential for your health. If you don’t get enough sleep, you may experience fatigue, depression and decreased alertness. It can also be a strain on your eyes, your weight and memory. Additionally, studies have shown that sleepless drivers can be as reckless as drunk drivers. So, don’t be a drowsy driver and get enough sleep.

Plan your schedule

This might be generic advice, but having a general idea of how things are gonna play out is under-ratedly helpful — we’re a fan of daily planners, the ‘Reminders’ app or Google Calendar. Noting down your due dates and reserving time slots for field trips or even something you’re planning with your friends or family reduces the risk of forgetting something or over-booking yourself. A to-do list that you renew on a daily basis also allows you to have the satisfaction of crossing things off.

Explore the unknown

You’re probably in a new city, or maybe a new area. Explore the city on your own or with a bunch of friends and see new things. Atlanta has a constant calendar of events and activities for all sorts of people. A buddy system is always helpful when exploring to keep each other in check and have a sense of security.

It’s also important to not be so hard on yourself, it’s a new stage in your life. Take the bad with a pinch of salt. It all works out.
